the light within > 0XFORD 1992-1993

Each piece measures: 650mm x 920mm without the light box.
Exhibition held at the Mary Ogilvy Gallery, Oxford, 1993.

Multi media works using direct and indirect light sources as an integral part of their meaning and construction.

We appear to need love, affirmation, structure and certainty in the majority of our relationships and communications; yet we question boundaries, seek change, and assert individuality. Through these seeming contradictions we follow a binding thread - nourished by our discoveries of beauty, harmony and love which we disclose in all realms of our lives, giving purpose to our existence.

ALIGHTBOXES

These light pieces are visual metaphors for internalised experiences; a physical embodiment of the sense of awe we feel as we acknowledge the binding thread of hope and of discovery as it weaves between the ambiguities and apparent contradictions of our lives; as it binds idiosyncrasies and inspires us to unveil mysteries; as it leaves us with more mysteries to unfold. Each piece of work looks for a potential beauty in the everyday experience
